“
BRITISH COLUMBIA RESIDENT” - shall be defined as: A person who has maintained a bona fide principal residence in British Columbia for a period not less than 200 days immediately preceding the qualifying race. Only Canadian citizens and those persons with landed immigrant status are included in this interpretation.
If any owner is a partnership, stable or corporation, and the majority interest in that partnership, stable, or corporation is owned by a person or persons who are NOT residents of British Columbia as described above, that partnership, stable, or corporation will be deemed not to be a British Columbia resident.
“BRITISH COLUMBIA-BRED HORSE” - shall be defined as: In Thoroughbred racing, as a horse that has been foaled in British Columbia. Effective with foals of 2012, to be eligible for Breeders Awards Program “BAP” awards all horses must be BC-bred, registered with the Jockey Club, and with the CTHS National Office prior to the horse running its first race. BC-bred foals prior to 2012 that have or have not been racing and are not Canadian registered will not be eligible to receive BAP awards until all the Canadian requirements have been met. Awards will only be payable effective from the date the horse is registered with the CTHS National Office as a Canadian-bred and will not be paid retroactive.
“BRITISH COLUMBIA STALLION” - shall be defined as: A stallion which offered a breeding service in British Columbia for the entire mating season the qualifying offspring was conceived. The owner or lessee of the stallion must be a resident of British Columbia. In the case of a leased stallion, a copy of the lease must be filed with the CTHS (BC Division).
“BREEDER” - shall be defined as: In Thoroughbred racing, as the owner of the mare at the time of foaling.
