Hastings Racecourse, Saturday June 2nd, 3rd race, a 6 andone-half furlongs test for optional claiming Allowance horses, 3-year-olds and up. The six horse field included two BC-breds, and it was won by BC-bred, 5 -year-old gelding Coulterberry . He won this one in much the same way he has won other races, from well off the pace. Rider Amadeo Perez allowed Coulterberry to relax at the rear until he set him down near the far turn with a run that circled the small field and brought him home 1 1/2 lengths clear of his nearest rival covering the distance in the good time of 1:16.75. Coulterberry was bred in BC by his owners Roy and Dixie Jacobson and is trained in fine fashion by Mark Cloutier. He is by solid BC sire Finality, and out of the mare, Badgetts Star. Given Coulterberry's early form he could continue to be a top performer for quite a while.
