The BC Thoroughbred community has lost a long-time breeder and owner with the passing of Ernie Braithwaite on March 6, 2018.

For many years Ernie and his wife, Marlene, had a small operation and enjoyed breeding and racing thoroughbreds in California, Washington and British Columbia with their partner Sonny Gorasht. Their top stakes mares were La Belle Fleur (Son of Briartic – La Belle Creole) and Locket (Rosberg – La Belle Creole).

Ernie served from 2011 to 2014 on the board of directors of the CTHS (BC Division) as a director and national director.

The CTHS BC Division board of directors and staff extend their condolences and heartfelt sympathy to Marlene and the family.
