Gary McNeil's homebred three-year-old gelding High End Man (Joey Franco) was a convincing winner of the $50,000 Richmond Derby Trial Friday night at Hastings. Sent off at odds of even money, the winner, trained by Pete Gregory and ridden by Amadeo Perez, took the lead entering the stretch and drew off to win by 5 ¼ lengths. The final time was 1:42.88 for the 8.5 furlongs and the winner returned a modest $4.10.
