Hastings Racecourse, June 3, 2018, River Rock Casino Handicap for 3-year-olds going six and one-half furlongs often brings together the best sophomores on the grounds, and this year was no different. Somehow the multiple stakes winning colt, Wise Market was grossly overlooked by the bettors at 15-1 and yet won this year's renewal in fine style. He jumped to the lead, that no one else seemed to want, and showed his class by making all the posts winning ones and finish in a time of 1:17.47. He left some good horses in his wake, including a two-year-old sales purchase of $250,000, Kentucky bred, Argosy Fleet. Wise Market is by long-time interior based BC sire, Mass Market and out of the Vying Victor mare, Fuchsia Gold and bred at Red Rock Farm by Suzanne Anderson. Wise Market is trained by Phil Hall, the same gent who picked up this outstanding performer, for himself and co-owners Blair Law and Brian Albertson, for a mere $1,500 at the CTHS BC 2016 Yearling Sale . Hard to imagine, as this horse has now won over 100 times that amount , and who knows how much more there is to come.
