Sunday, July 22nd in the 4th race at Hastings Racecourse, BC-bred Stay Fantastic came from a ways off the pace to win a Maiden Special Weight for two-year-old colts and geldings, going 6 furlongs in 1:13.32. Rider David Lopez put Stay Fantastic in a nice ground saving position along the rail, before moving into contention on the stretch turn and rolling by the front runners just before the wire. He galloped out like adding some distance in future races will not be an issue. Stay Fantastic is owned and was bred by Kamloops based Tod Mountain Thoroughbreds, making them the collectors of both $5,000 bonuses for British Columbia bred MSW winners. This bay gelding is by California sire Stay Thirsty and out of the Carson City mare, Fantastic City. Fantastic City has produced multiple winners, including stakes placed winner of over $250,000, Fantastic Cousin. Stay Fantastic was trained to victory, in his first lifetime start, by Mike Anderson who is assisted by Terry Clyde.
