Alpine Lad (Gilded Time), a homebred gelding racing for Peter Redekop, trained by Craig MacPherson and ridden by Fernando Perez led throughout the $50,000 Sales Stakes to post a three-length victory over Lysa MacPherson's Shotgun Ralph (Cause to Believe) in 1:20.76, who was 2 ¾ lengths clear of Peter Redekop B.C. Ltd.'s After Court (Doneraille Court) who finished third. The winner returned a lucrative $54.40 after leaving from the eight post position in the reduced field of nine. Alpine Lad, out of Stroll Fast, has a half-sister in the sale, Hip #114 selling in the Wild Rose Farm consignment. Redekop had earlier success with Alpine Lad's half-sister Alpine Lass, winning the Timber Music Stakes and finishing 2nd in the BC Cup Debutante.
